Communications Specialist (P/T)



Salary Range: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour (based on experience and education)

Hours: 20 - 30 per week

Cleburne, TX (some off-site hours) 

 Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • Experience editing websites using WordPress;
  • Experience writing press releases;
  • Experience in executing a strategic communications plan;
  • Demonstrated expertise using social media;
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics and/or search engine optimization (SEO);
  • Experience in videography & photography;
  • Eye for graphic design.   

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience;
  • Experience in organizational communication, public relations, and/or marketing;
  • Experience using multiple social media applications and Facebook Ad Manager;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills;
  • Ability to collaborate with peers and team members;
  • Passionate about non-profit organizations;
  • Flexible, positive, and organized;
  • Self-starter and able to work independently in a results-oriented environment.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the external communications liaison for ORS and its programs;
  • Create, maintain, and grow new and existing social networks, including Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook;
  • Identify and develop stories that promote the success of ORS and its programs;
  • Identify content that promotes the overall vision and mission of ORS;
  • Sustain ORS’ narratives using all available media platforms;
  • Develop social media partnerships and increase ORS’ social media footprint;
  • Update the ORS’ website, blog, and social media platforms on a weekly basis. 

 Secondary Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Analyze data and research best ways to increase traffic to all platforms;
  • Write and submit press releases for media outlets;
  • Execute and analyze paid advertising strategies and budgets;
  • Stay current with social media trends and best practices;
  • Capture video and pictures of events for use in promotions.  

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift and carry 40 lbs., to stand and walk for long periods of time, to endure strong heat and cold, to climb stairs and to fly on airplane. Must be able to project voice and speak publicly. Must be able to drive a vehicle, read road signs, judge distance, & spend extensive hours in front of a computer screen. Must be able to listen carefully to others on the telephone.
